In this video, I share why when you pray you’ll be healthier than those who don’t. It’s one of the reasons why you and I should always be in prayer.
Prayer is the most popular alternative therapy in America today. According to the University of Rochester, prayer increasingly proves to be working.
We are all wired for God
All humans are wired for spirituality, but more importantly, we’re wired for God. Here’s how we connect with God:
- Prayer
- Community – Intercessory Prayer
- Serving others
- Caring for nature
Prayer is a relaxation response
Prayer helps alleviate the stress levels (that are one of the significant risk factors for diseases).
Prayer helps maintain a positive outlook and successful attitude toward trials and difficulties we face in life.
Prayer helps with the following:
- Body’s metabolism decreases.
- Heart rate slows.
- Blood pressure goes down.
- Breathing becomes calmer and more regular.
Prayer and the levels of dopamine
Dopamine (dōpəˌmēn) helps regulate the following: movement, attention, learning, and emotional responses.
It also enables us not only to see rewards but to take action to move toward them.
The bottom line is that it helps with the states of wellbeing and joy.
Prayer works when done regularly
Pray every day and at the same time.
Don’t use neutral phrases such as “Grass is green. Sand is soft.”
Use something from the Bible focusing on a Being bigger than self: God. And, say something like: “God is good. God is peace. God is my Healer.”
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. ESV.
Now, it’s your turn
