As a Christian you also need to set smart goals. And, that’s what I share with you how to do it in the following lines.
This is the second in our series. You can check out the first part here in case you missed it.
Let me go ahead and give you a quick review of what I shared with you the other time.
Here are five things you should first know:
- Know that you are God’s masterpiece.
- God created you for a purpose.
- God’s purpose is that YOU DO.
- God created you to do good things.
- Live in sync with God’s plan.
What does “living in sync with God’s plan” mean?
To live in sync with God’s plan simply means three things:
- Balance
- Order
- Harmony
The question is how should you achieve all that?
I’m going to offer ways you could achieve balance, order and harmony in this life.
But, before doing so, let me say these things need to be done in this order: harmony, order and balance.
I know someone may think differently about that order. Keep reading and you’ll find out why I suggest to do it that way.
God’s intention for creating you is to live in harmony
I’m saying that based on the book of Genesis with reference to the creation story.
If you read Genesis 1, at the end of God creating everything, Scripture says that “God saw it was good.”
However, when it came to the creation of humans, the Bible says that “God saw that it was very good” (verse 31).
Now, take a look at Genesis 2. In this chapter, you find another creation story with more details about how God created the first woman. There are also more other things you come across in this chapter that you did not read in chapter 1.
Chapter 2 gives us an idea of what living in sync with God’s plan means.
Living in harmony stands for being in the right place and at the right time.
I know you’d ask me: “how do I know that I am where God wants me to be in life?”
Well, let me say that Adam and Eve had no choice about deciding where to be in life. Even though they would start making plans later. But, God placed them in the garden of Eden.

So, don’t rush to get out, so quickly, of whatever situation in which you find yourself right now.
God may have you there for a very specific reason. One thing that can help you endure anything could be what I talk about next.
Living in harmony implies maintaining healthy relationships.
Living in harmony implies maintaining healthy relationships.
These relationships are with:
- God.
- Self.
- Others.
- Environment (Surroundings).
Picture that scene in your mind for a moment.
It’s like Adam standing and God calling animals according to their species to come in front of this human.
What, according to you, does all that imply? It implies power, dominion and influence. Doesn’t it?
God’s intention for creating you is that you have dominion
God placing you where you, just like in the case of Adam and Eve, is for the following:
- Influence.
- Dominion.
- Care.
Having dominion is what establishes order in your life and surroundings.
In other words, you’re the one to take control of the “now.”
When you read chapter two in the book of Genesis, dominion happened as the ability of having everything come before Adam so that he could name them.

Read Genesis 2: 18-20.
What you notice is this story implies that dominion is something that no one will ever do for you. You’ve got to do it on your own.

The rest is something you do in community and with the help from other people.
Adam and Eve, however, short-lived this harmony. As you’ve seen in chapter two, God brought everything before Adam allowing him to name each animal, bird and other creatures. See Genesis 3.

The consequences, as the Bible tells us about Adam and Eve’s loss of harmony with God, were that God kicked them out of the garden of Eden.
The garden of Eden, for me, represents the most perfect state of being a human being could ever want to reach.
That states helps you establish order in your life and experience balance.
I know you’re feeling that the idea of harmony in life seems like mission impossible.
There’s good news, which we find in Jesus Christ.
God’s intention for creating you is that you experience balance
The Bible speaks of Jesus Christ in relation to the original Adam this way: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit” (1 Corinthians 15: 45, ESV).
There are two things here. One is who you are now. The other is who you could become.
The first has to do with you as a living being. This is who we all are. But, you can be more than just like any other living being.
For you to achieve that, you will need to bear the image of the last Adam. The apostle Paul refers to this last Adam as the image of the man from Heaven (see 1 Corinthians 15: 49).
To bear the image of the man from Heaven, Jesus Christ, the second Adam, means to seek harmony with Christ.
It’s only when you’re in harmony with Jesus Christ that you become a life-giving spirit. In other words, you can then experience balance. Your life will also be in order.
Putting it all together
You’ve got only one goal this year: to become a life-giving spirit. One thing to do everyday could be to set a time to spend with the One who can make you become so: Jesus Christ. Have no agenda when you speak with Him. Be open and willing to listen to what He tells you. He’s the One who has a daily agenda for you, which will establish order and allow you to experience balance.
