Life is so unpredictable. Isn’t it?
And a lot of times, we get lost through transitions and situations in which we find ourselves. Every single time we face things in life with uncertain outcomes, we freak out. Don’t we?
There is also a man, just to name one, in the Old Testament who faced a situation he thought he could not handle. But, God said to him, just as He’s saying to you this day: “The Lord is with You!”
Because the Lord is with us, then we should not be afraid or scared by anything or anyone.
God is with us! What does it truly mean?
1. You are strong and courageous
God is present with us through His covenant.
With Joshua, He was with him through the covenant He had made with the people of Israel through Moses. Today this covenant is made possible through faith in Jesus Christ.
Your strength and courage then come from God’s covenant He has made with you.
God’s covenant with you is sustained through a personal relationship with God.
Part of what God wants you to do include practices such as:
- Prayer.
- Listening to God.
- Meditating on God’s Word, day and night (as often as possible).
2. You are able to keep moving forward
Just as God led the people of Israel out of Egypt to the promised land, so is He leading you to some destination in your life.
Getting to your destination means you will encounter several things you cannot avoid if you’re intentional about getting where you want to be:
- You go through the wilderness: dry seasons of life with not much clarity.
- You face oppositions, doubts and fears from yourself and people around you. Even the ones that are so dear to you.
- You struggle with the idea of giving up on God.
When Joshua was commissioned to replace Moses, he was so afraid. But, he was reassured by God, Himself. (Joshua 1)
God is also reassuring you this day:
- You will get where you want to get in life for as long as you are strong and courageous.
- You will face enemies and will win every single battle because God will help you move forward, no matter what!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
