Faith Helps You Experience Healing

You may have heard that Jesus can heal, or still heals even today.

Of course, that’s something you read about in the Bible. Probably, you’ve read it as many times as I have.

Also, perhaps, you’ve prayed with and for people asking God to heal. If you’re like me, I prayed twice and for many days for both my parents, first in 1996 and later in 2013.

They both did not experience physical healing, which was just the opposite of what I asked God to give them.

So, is it true that faith allows us to personally experience healing?

Faith is a choice to believe in God’s Power

Without faith, it’s impossible to please God (read Hebrews 11: 6).

Even though the four gospels tell us about the healings Jesus did during his three years preaching the good news, not all sick people got healed through him.

For instance, there was a place where Jesus did not heal as many sick people as in the other towns he had been before. And, that, according to the Bible, as a result of those people’s unbelief (read Matthew 13: 58 and Mark 6: 5).

Yes, God can do beyond and exceedingly above what we ask for or imagine (Ephesians 2: 20). God can’t do all those miracles if we don’t believe in God.

What is faith then?

Faith is “is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11: 1).

It allows us to understand that the Word of God is so powerful that everything came out of it. By faith, we know that what we see has come out of what we don’t see (read Hebrews 11: 2, 3).

Just choosing to believe comes with lots of excellent health benefits, according to NAMI.

First, faith enhances your sense of self and worth.

It empowers you to make better choices in life. It also helps you connect to what you believe in and your personal growth. Faith enables you to accept and embrace other people, even when they seem very different from you.

Second, faith makes you more mindful.

You incorporate meditation and self-reflection while seeking to connect with God daily.

You can relate to people and nature.

Faith draws you near to God, your Healer

As I stated above and based on Hebrews 11: 6, with faith, it’s impossible to please God.

Just as Jesus was unable to heal as many people as the other cities during his public ministry, so are we unable to experience His healing power today if we choose not to believe in Him.

In real life, there is no way the Doctor or nurses can help you if you don’t want either dial 911 or drive to the Doctor’s office. Even when you get to the Doctor’s office, you still need to tell them what’s wrong with you.

That’s the same thing with your current situation.

You want Jesus to heal you. Why don’t you go to Him in prayer and ask for healing? While you speak to God, believe that God can heal you.

Well, God knows everything, why do we then have to tell God things of which, He is already aware?

Good question!

Remember that God will never force His way in your life. Otherwise, that will be against free will, which is a gift God has given to all humans.

God is also so faithful that He gives us what’s best for us. That’s because God is a good and faithful Father (read Luke 11: 11 and Matthew 7: 9).

Faith means shifting your eyes from everything else to Jesus Christ alone

[bctt tweet=”Faith leads us back to the One who can change times and circumstances, God, our Maker.” username=””]

A Biblical example is what we find in the book of Numbers 21.

Because of their disobedience, God allowed poisonous snakes to bite the people of Israel in the wilderness. For them not to die, they had to keep their eyes on the bronze snake Moses had made and lifted on a pole (Numbers 21: 9).

Jesus referred to this text when He was speaking about Himself.

“Just as Moses lifted the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him” (John 3: 15).

I don’t think it was easy for the Israelites to keep their eyes on a bronze snake hung on a stick while knowing and feeling the snakes on the ground bite them!

[bctt tweet=”Faith does not always eliminate the immediate pain, but will eventually and holistically restore you, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.” username=””]

And, all that happens not because of your doing, but God’s.

Just as the people who lived were the ones who chose to obey God’s word through Moses and kept their eyes on a bronze snake, God gives abundant life to those who keep their eyes on Jesus and His cross.

Bringing it together

Faith makes prayer work, which is not a result of what you can do. It’s because of your trust in God, who is the Maker of everything and everyone. Faith, not only gives you access to healing, but it also enables you to receive the abundant life that takes you into eternity.
