Faithfulness is key to success with God!
Success is God’s gift, which results from our faithfulness to God. Three things, therefore, make faithfulness so crucial for our success with God in life.
Faithfulness is God’s character
There are a lot of places in the Bible that talk about God’s faithfulness.
I am going to highlight just a few to help us understand that God’s character is about faithfulness.
God’s faithfulness is expressed in the context of His covenant. God is faithful to His word.
For example, there is a scripture that asks us to be faithful to our words and hold fast the confession of our hope.
The reason why we have to be faithful to our confession is that God, who promised, is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)
God keeps His covenant and steadfast love with those who keep God’s words. God’s faithfulness to the faithful ones is extended up to a thousand generations. (Deuteronomy 7:9)
God’s character is faithfulness to everything He has said through His Word, the Bible.
Faithfulness is a choice
In order to experience God’s faithfulness, we have to answer the call into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Doing so makes faithfulness a choice.
In Deuteronomy 30, we read that life is about choices. It is about choosing good in order to live, or evil and die at the end.
Choosing good means deciding to be faithful to God. It also means choosing to follow Jesus Christ. Jesus also said that it is a choice. One day, he said: “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24, ESV)
Faithfulness leads to fruitfulness
Faithfulness to God means the ability to bear fruit in life. Jesus talks about becoming a fruit-bearing Christian in John 15.
Only branches that are connected to the vine can bear fruit. He talked of Himself as the true vine and God, the Father, the vinedresser.
Bearing fruit requires pruning, which may be messy and painful. But, the process is very crucial for one to bear more fruit. God is in charge of the entire process.
Staying connected to the vine is an analogy of remaining faithful to God. The choice to be faithful leads to success with God in life.
Success means becoming a fruit-bearing person. Also, because producing fruit is conditional to staying connected to the vine, true success, in life, therefore cannot be experienced without God.
