God Calls Us to Be Faithful

Faithfulness

“God calls us to follow Jesus Christ,” means to live as Jesus lived and walk as Jesus walked. It is a life of complete obedience to God and full submission to what His Word teaches us.

God’s calling in our lives, in addition to following Jesus Christ, is that we serve God and the People. When we begin following Jesus Christ, we belong to God’s Kingdom. Belonging to God’s family means we become God’s agents. In other words, we represent God everywhere we are. This makes serving God a lifestyle and not just things we do.

Serving is about touching someone’s heart. And every time we touch someone’s life, we make God smile.

Lastly, God calls us to be faithful. Our faithfulness does not dwell in what we give. It is more than that. Our faithfulness is, however, how we use everything we are and have.

The story in Matthew 25: 14-30 gives us an idea of what it means to be faithful. There are two things that come out of this parable:

  1. Our Master, Jesus Christ, is coming back.

  2. Upon His return, Jesus, our Master, will ask you and I how we will have used our talents.

Of course, you would say: “what talent do I have?” Or “I have no talent to be useful in community or in our church!”

That is exactly what one of the servants in the story (Matthew 25: 14-30) did. He decided to hide his talent instead of putting it to good use like the other two. Consequently, when the Master came back from his journey, he was so mad at this servant. Is that the kind of servant you want to be? Or do you want to be like the other two. They each respectively received two and five talents. Instead of hiding them, they invested them. Upon the Master’s return from his journey, they each had made some gains.

It does not really matter how many talents you have. Or perhaps you do not even know what you have. Let me tell you, [bctt tweet=”your life, relationships, skills (acquired from education, life’s experience, so forth) are talents God has given you.”]

I should also add that [bctt tweet=”your mind, body and emotions are all talents you received from God.”]

The call is to put every single of the above talents you have to good use. What this means is you use everything you are and have to serve God and the People.
