Have you ever wondered what your calling in life is?

Peter summarizes it in his letter:

You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people, for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. ( 1 Peter 2: 9)

Here’s how I would it in one sentence:

“God has called you out of darkness into his light so that you may proclaim to others Who God has been to you.”

Three layers that come with God’s calling for every Christian are that you belong to:

  • A chosen race.
  • A royal priesthood.
  • A holy nation.

In other words, you are a person who belongs to God alone.

Here are what the three layers of God’s calling in your life mean:

God wants to be known to the world through you.

  • In other words, you are to be the salt of the earth and the light of this world.
  • Your everyday living should tell others whose and who you are.

God has called you to lead others in worship of God.

  • You start by being first a living sacrifice to God.
  • Model what it means to a worshipping person in a way that people around you can learn from you.

God wants you to have a lifestyle that shows it is possible to overcome any sin.

  • What I mean here is that with God’s help, anyone can overcome temptation.
  • This way of life demonstrates that God has called you to influence your surroundings (people and nature), and not the other way round.

Yes, that’s your calling. That is how God wants you to live this day and every other day of your life. Please, go ahead to share this reflection with someone you know. As a result of doing so, one more life may be changed!
