The 2 things the Holy Spirit gives to the Believer!

“Why the Holy Spirit and how does this apply to me?” is the question one could raise today?

Jesus, in His last words to the disciples commanded them not to leave Jerusalem until when the Holy Spirit would have come upon them (Acts 1: 8). Here is we see the primary reason why Jesus’ disciples then needed the Holy Spirit. They just could not do anything without the Holy Spirit. That is why you and I even today still need the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we have no direction, no power and no gifts to do what God wants us to do for His Kingdom. Our skills, tools and wisdom are not enough, on their own, to serve God’s Kingdom.

More importantly, when God filled the disciples with the Holy Spirit, they also receive two very crucial rights:

  1. the right of possession, and
  2. the right of redemption.

My Rights as a Christian

The right of possession is one of the 2 things the Holy Spirit gives to the Believer. This is something he or she receives through Jesus Christ by inheriting what the Jews have inherited through Abraham: the promised land. In the case of Christians, we believe in a promised land now and the one we will live in when Christ restores everything.

[bctt tweet=”The right of possession means that God establishes His people in a location for a purpose.”]

Wherever we live, as individuals or as a church, God has put us there for a reason. Just as the Israelites prayed for the promised land, so should the Christians claim the land now knowing that someday we will in the perfect land where Christ will rule over all!

The right of redemption is the second of the 2 things the Holy Spirit gives to the believer. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have been adopted as sons and daughters of God. Not only, do we have to inherit the physical and spiritual promised land, but also the digital world (social media, internet, and so forth).

As the 2 primary things we receive from the Holy Spirit, [bctt tweet=”the rights of possession and redemption consist of being called by God to be sent out in the world.”]

God calls us always back to Himself and sends us everyday to share with others in Christ!
