Fear isn’t always a bad feeling. Fear that helps you avoid doing dangerous and bad things, isn’t bad.
But, when combined with worry, fear leads you to depression, headaches, anxiety, anger and addictions, then something’s wrong. You then may need help from a professional.
This blog post is about helping you with what you need in order to overcome this kind of fear. You will not eliminate it, but you will make it work for you.
Fear can be used to your advantage, but only you let it be so.
The key to doing just that begins with your mindset, which should result from believing.
Faith in God casts away all fears.⠀ ⠀
Some people talk about putting faith in a higher power. As of me, I’m a Christian and my faith isn’t in a Power.
I have faith in God. Believing in God casts away all our fears. There area two reasons how this happens.
God has the ability to make all things work for good.
We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8: 28), ESV.
- God, for me, is the Most Powerful Being.
- Not only does He have all Power, He can handle anything that looks bigger to humans.
- Based on Romans 8, God is capable of making all things work together for good.
- God makes all circumstances in life obey His purpose. He aligns every single event in your life with what He has in mind for you.
God replaces all our anxieties and fears with rest.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11: 28-29. ESV.
- God can replace our anxieties and fears with His own Peace.
- He still gives us something to carry, but which this time is much lighter. ⠀⠀ ⠀
God provides for you with new opportunities, guidance and people. ⠀
Believe in yourself.⠀⠀ ⠀
It is crucial that you believe in yourself too. Here are things you should know about who you are:
- You have all it takes to be at your best.
- You have the potential to face anything and come out a winner.⠀⠀
- No matter what happens to you, there is always a way out. But, you have to tap into your potential and stay connected to God. Other people talk about connection with nature or a higher power. I stay connected with God. ⠀
- You are here on earth for a reason. And God has equipped you to accomplish what you were made for.⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Have faith that everything is going to be ok.⠀⠀ ⠀
The idea that everything is going to be OK is simply grounded in hope. This is an attitude that you have to embrace. Doing so will then enable you to turn all your fears into great opportunities for your own personal growth. ⠀⠀ ⠀
How does this become possible?
Turning your fears into opportunities does not only lie in what you can achieve. Neither does it only derive from your plans and positivism.
It’s grounded in your faith. ⠀⠀ ⠀
Here’s why:
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. Ephesians 3:20. ESV. ⠀
As you see, even if God is capable of doing things beyond our imagination, the entire process comes down to what’s working within you. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Yes, this power that works in you is what will change things in and around you. Your feelings, emotions and personality depend on what’s at work in you.
When the power working in you is faith, any kind of fear will become a stepping block and opportunity ushering you to the next level in life. The ingredient to turning all your fears into opportunity for your growth is faith in God, in yourself and hope that everything is going to be alright.
Is there anything I didn’t mention in this reflection you think can eliminate fear in your life? Please go ahead and share it.
