What Is God’s Will For My Life?

What is God’s will for my life?

This is not an unusual question you and I often ask.

There are 3 Biblical practices I consider to be a framework that can help you and I discern what it is God wants us to do on a daily basis.

1) Rejoice

To rejoice is to be joyful and glad. These two virtues are a choice you’ve got to make on your own. It is a daily choice to make.

We’re so often misguided with the concept that joy and gladness are a result of what happens in our lives.

I think, however, that our joy or gladness is how we choose to respond to what we face. That’s why, it is not what happens, which should define our joy. It is our inner being, which defines the joy and happiness we have.

In other words, your joy depends on you, which makes it more than just a feeling. Joy or gladness is therefore a verb. You have to choose to be joyous, glad and happy.

[bctt tweet=”Lasting joy derives from a source that does not run out: God.” username=””via PasteurEmmanuel””]

When God is the source of your joy, you will always be able to rejoice no matter.

2) Stay connected with God

[bctt tweet=”God’s will is that His Spirit dwells in you.” username=””via PasteurEmmanuel””]

There are two reasons why:

  • Your body and mine are the temples of the Holy Spirit according to 1 Corinthians 6: 19.
  • That’s the only way we stay connected with God.

God dwelling in our lives, not only provides us with the fruit of the Spirit, but also helps us be and live in a way that’s pleasing to God. As a result, we find clarity on what we ought to do daily for God, ourselves and other people.

[bctt tweet=”Staying connected with God requires both faith and committed prayer life.” username=””via PasteurEmmanuel””]

Prayer and faith, combined, make God’s presence more real.

The more time you spend with someone. The better you know them. That’s the same with with God. The more time you spend in prayer with Him. The better you get you feel Him in your life.

3) Be thankful

Lastly, God wants you and I to be thankful.

It is God’s will for us to be glad for everything that happens to us. It is an expression of gratitude for what we have and don’t have.

In every situation we face, bad or good, we are to be thankful. In all circumstances, we should always thank God.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18)
