How do you find joy every day?
What I’m sharing with you is a two-step process that can help you find joy every day. It comes from words I read in the Bible, Ephesians4: 31-32:
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
The principles that come out of the above text can apply to any human being, whether you believe in Christ or not.
The text offers a two-step process for you to find joy everyday.
Let me point first that being joyous or happy isn’t something someone will have to give you. We often have the impression that people or stuff can make us happy. However, real and lasting happiness is what you choose for yourself.
Here are the two steps to help you experience that joy, on a daily basis.
Get rid of these four negative feelings⠀⠀ ⠀
- Get free of bitterness. Bitterness is a feeling of resentment, which results from a bad experience.
- Get rid of wrath and anger. Wrath and anger are two things that describe the same feeling. They represent a deeply resentful indignation that’s likely to take vengeance or punish others.
- Get rid of clamor. This is when you express dissatisfaction.
- Get rid of slander. Slander results from the above negative feelings you’ve got to get rid of. Anger, bitterness and clamor could make you feel like bringing dishonor upon someone. It is falsely and maliciously saying things about someone.
Embrace the following three attitudes.
- Be kind to one another. This is done through your actions, words and thoughts. All these 3 parts of you should be in agreement. What you think about someone should be what you say about them. And what you do for them is because of how you think about them. People will never forget your kindness.
- Be tenderhearted. Show sympathy to everyone in your life. Be supportive of people through acts of compassion and love.
- Be forgiving. Forgivenesses means you have power. It doesn’t expect anything in return. Lastly, forgiveness sets you free.
Remember that finding joy in life does not happen overnight.
It takes time because it requires practice and behavioral change, which will result from doing what you ought to do.
God wants you to be joyous. Share a little bit of that with a family member or a friend by sending them this post.
